For those working to heal their relationship with themselves and food, group therapy is unparalleled in helping clients see that they are not alone. Members often find uncanny overlaps in their life stories and in their thought patterns; these connections help diminish the shame that sustains eating disorder behaviors. The goal of the group is to develop healthier ways to relate to oneself and to others and to reduce eating disorder symptoms. Group participants consistently tell us that the group is a highlight of their week and is an important element of their recovery. We aim to create a group context that challenges members to practice continual honesty and accountability, and to cultivate hope and compassion for oneself and others.
Groups run quarterly with 10 weeks in a session. If you are interested in group counseling, contact Sarah Voth to determine if the group is a good fit and to discuss guidelines for participation. |
